Energy efficiency from a documented baseline to measured results

Energy use can be reduced in many ways. The difficult part is establishing which change came from the measure and which came from weather, production or another operating condition. We measure actual use, prioritise technically justified measures and follow up the result against a documented baseline.

When consumption or peak demand needs an explanation

Costs rise without a clear reason

Consumption or demand increases without a corresponding change in the operation.

Available capacity is becoming restrictive

New loads are planned and existing demand must be understood before capacity is added.

A proposed saving needs scrutiny

The assumptions behind a calculation must be checked against actual operating conditions.

A completed measure needs follow-up

The result must be compared with a relevant baseline rather than with an isolated invoice.

Where energy and power are used

The assignment is shaped around the facility and the decision to be supported.

Base load and operating hours

We distinguish necessary continuous use from equipment operating without useful output.

Peak demand and simultaneity

We identify which loads form the highest demand and when they coincide.

Electrical losses

Reactive power, harmonics and imbalance are assessed where they affect losses or capacity.

Motors and drive systems

Load, control method and duty are compared with the actual operating requirement.

Heating, cooling and auxiliary systems

Operating schedules and demand are reviewed against use of the facility.

Baseline and influencing factors

Production, weather and operating changes are documented before results are compared.

A prioritised basis for action

Depending on scope, the delivery may include:

  • Documented baseline and relevant operating conditions
  • Breakdown of energy use and peak demand
  • Technically justified improvement opportunities
  • Assumptions, uncertainty and missing evidence
  • Priority based on technical effect, feasibility and risk
  • Measurement plan for agreed follow-up
Measured

Based on documented measurements under stated conditions.

Calculated

Based on stated assumptions that remain visible in the decision material.

Technical decision support, not a guaranteed saving

The economic assessment is used to prioritise technical measures. It is not financial advice or a guarantee of a particular saving. Changes to control and automation systems are included only when function, responsibility and scope have been agreed separately.

CLEPS works in Sweden. Applicable requirements and standards are Swedish or are applied in a Swedish context.

What needs to change in your energy use?

Describe the facility, the decision and the evidence already available. Scope and delivery conditions are confirmed for each assignment.
